Round 2: Le-Win vs Orangeville

Orangeville -

Entering the 2nd round of the Class 1A playoffs, Orangeville and Lena-Winslow would meet for the 2nd time this year. They met back in week 6, where the Panthers won 46-7. Orangeville was hosting their first playoff game since 2001, and were looking for a better result the second time around.

Le-Win would score three touchdowns on their first 8 plays of the game to jump out to a 22-0 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. The Panthers would get on the board on a Sean Ormiston 87 yard touchdown run on their second play of the game. They would a 55 yard touchdown run by Marey Roby on their 4th play, and after getting set up by an Isaiah Bruce 39 yard run, Luke Benson would punch it in from 2 yards out on their 8th play of the game. Roby would immediately pick off a Jake Doyle pass, and less than 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter Jack Setterstrom would rumble in from 17 yards out to give the Panthers a 30-0 lead with 10:37 remaining in the first half.

The Broncos would get a short breath of life after stopping the Panthers on downs, but would be forced to punt 2 minutes later. On the very next play Ormiston would rip off a 63 yard touchdown run off left tackle as Le-Win went up 36-0 with 3:02 before the half. The Broncos would drive down to the Le-Win 16 yard line before a fumble was recovered by Ormiston with a 1:14 left in the half. A couple plays later Le-Win would connect on their signature pass play, as a fake lead to the right left Roby coming out of the backfield down the left seam. Benson would connect with Roby for a 48 yard touchdown pass, and after the two point try was good, Le-Win would take a 44-0 lead into the half as the clock would start rolling at the start of the 3rd quarter.

The Panthers would open up the 2nd half with a 44 yard touchdown run by Setterstrom to go up 52-0 with 8:34 to go in the 3rd quarter to close out their scoring for the game.

Orangeville would get on the board in the 4th quarter after Doyle connected with Zach Baker for a 32 yard touchdown pass. The two point try was good, as that would bring us to our final score in favor of the Panthers, 52-8.

Le-Win would gain 517 yards of offense, with 450 yards on the ground and 67 yards in the air. Leading the way was Sean Ormiston, who would rush the ball 10 times for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the process Sean would surpass both Erich Awender and Jake Apple on the NUIC career rushing list, and tie Apple on the NUIC rushing touchdown list with his 58th of his career. Jack Setterstrom would chip in with 115 yards rushing on 8 attempts with 2 touchdowns, and Marey Roby would pick up 82 yards rushing with 48 yards receiving for 2 touchdowns.

The Broncos would gain 153 yards of offense on the day, with 93 yards rushing and 60 yards passing. Garret Rodebaugh led the Bronco attack with 45 yards rushing on 14 attempts. In the process, Rodebaugh would break 3,500 yards rushing for his career, and finish as Orangeville's all-time leading rusher with 3,534 yards. Chase Jordan had 20 yards rushing, while Jake Doyle added 18 yards rushing with 60 yards passing and 1 touchdown. Zach Baker had 1 reception for 32 yards and the lone touchdown for the Broncos.
