Round 1 | Ann-Weth vs Orangeville
Kewanee -
The Orangeville Broncos were making their 13th trip to the playoffs, and first visit since 2010. They faced the tough task of taking on the # 2 seed and 4th ranked Annawan-Wethersfield Titans in the 1st round on the road.
The Broncos proved to be a tough opponent in the first half, as AW was able to put a score across in the 1st quarter on a 68 yard TD pass to take an early 6-0 lead, but the Titans wouldn't see the end zone again until the 2nd quarter they ran the ball in from 5 yards up to extend their lead to 12-0.
The Broncos would respond, as Austin Guy would put Orangeville on the board with a 1 yard TD run, and after a successful Pedro Cordeiro PAT kick, Orangeville closed the gap to 12-7 at the half.
Coming out in the 2nd half, the Titan offense proved to be too much, as they would score 3 more times to take a 31-7 lead, but Guy would get the Broncos on the board one last time with a 9 yard run in the 4th quarter, as Annawan-Wethersfield won the game 31-14.
Orangeville finishes the season with a 5-5 record, but outside of the record and a 1st round loss, this was a huge step in the direction the Broncos have been heading in the past couple of seasons as they continue to build their program back up.
Annawan-Wethersfield will go on the road to Princeville next week, in a conference rematch that the Titans won the first time around 14-6.
