Round 2 | Le-Win vs Salt Fork

Catlin

Lena-Winslow had the long haul of a 4 hour bus trip to Catlin to face off with Salt Fork in the 2nd round of the Class 1A IHSA playoffs. The Panthers came into the game as the #6 state ranked team and also with the #6 seed. Salt Fork came into this game after they narrowly escaped Stockton after a late charge by the Blackhawks came up short.

Le-Win got off the bus and came out a little slow in this match up. Tied up at 7 late in the first quarter, Le-Win would get one more score before the half to lead 14-7.

The 4th quarter would belong to Rahveon Valentine as he would run for 3 TD's in the 4th quarter as the Panther train started to roll. The Panthers would score 14 unanswered points to start the 4th quarter and extend their lead to 28-7. But Salt Fork stormed back, with a TD of their own to close that gap to 28-14. The Panthers and Storm would exchange 2 more TD's as Le-Win won the game 35-21.

Rahveon Valentine led the Panther offense with 28 carries for 234 yards and 3 TD's. On defense Trey Chenong came up with 2 big interceptions. Le-Win would finish the day with 383 total yards of offense as they rushed for 359 yards and passed for 24 yards.

The Storm were held in check all game as they finished the first half with only 52 yards of total offense, and would finish the day with 170 yards of total offense. Salt Fork was held to 11 yards rushing on 26 carries for the game.

Le-Win improves to 9-2 and will face conference rival Forreston (11-0) in the quarterfinals next week in Lena. The game will be at 1pm.
