Week 8 | Forreston vs EPC

Lanark

This game featured a matchup of undefeated NUIC powers, similar to the 2014 matchup that saw both teams end the season with state championships in their respective classes. This time around though, it was Forreston who came in as the favorite.

Forreston would open the scoring in the 1st quarter of this game as Gavin Fuchs would punch his way into the end zone from 10 yards out to put Forreston on top 7-0. Later in the 1st quarter, QB Hunter Daws would find the end zone on a 30 yard run to give Forreston a 14-0 lead they would take into half time.

As Forreston dominated the first half gaining 217 yards of offense to EPC's 77 yards of offense, EPC would dominate the time of possession in the 3rd quarter holding Forreston to only 8 offensive plays. Forreston had posssession deep in their own territory as EPC forced a fumble in which they would recover at the Cardinals 22 yard line. EPC would finally drive into the red zone and set up a Keegan Schubert 6 yard TD run to bring the Catz within a score, down 14-7 late in the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter Forreston settled in, as 12 play 57 yard drive was capped off with an Anthony Christensen 5 yard TD run to give Forreston their 2 TD lead back, up 21-7. Once down in the 4th quarter the Wildcatz couldn't respond as they were forced to punt and allowed Forreston to run out the clock to win the game 21-7.

This gives Forreston the opportunity to clinch their first outright NUIC conference championship if they can pull off a win next week. For EPC, this was their first blemish of the season as they fall to 7-1.
